KLW is moving forward and won’t stop investing in wheel production technology. In October 2016, our wheel-rolling shop will complete the modernization of vertical quenching machines at a wheels heat-treatment site.
This will provide stable mechanical properties of wheels in a compliance with the highest customer’ requirements. This is particularly important for heavy haul transport and EMU/DMU trains.
The main goals are to modernize water treatment systems and also upgrade control systems of vertical quenching machines for:
- Regulation of water supply;
- Water filtration from the smallest particles (up to 0.1 mm);
- Precise temperature control on heat treatment surface;
- Automatic process control.
The undertaken measures ensure the production of wheels with stable high mechanical properties in accordance with American, British and European standards.
